In
Social Studies, we are learning about cultures. A culture consists of traditions,
beliefs, foods, languages, religions, clothing and more. In
Canada, we have a multicultural environment, which was a result of immigration.
This means that we have many different types of cultural heritage in Canada.
Under multiculturalism all citizens are treated equally.
Canada
helps people in a culture be equal with other people in another culture through
the charter of rights. There are also many cultural festivals or events like
Winnipeg’s Folklorama, where people from a culture can celebrate and share
their heritage with other people. These gatherings also help people understand and
respect other cultural backgrounds.
